Suggestions and Feedback

“I wore a pretty great tux in To Catch A Thief. Will you be doing a post on that anytime soon?”

I’m always looking for new BAMF Style content ideas, so if you’re ever watching a film or TV show and think, “Hey, that BAMF has great style…” you should know where to go. Post your ideas in the comments below or email thesartorialbamf@gmail.com! Nothing is necessarily out of bounds, as long as there’s enough to be covered.

I try to be as accommodating as I can be to requests, but this page is solely a labor of love—not a content factory!—so please be patient and mindful of the fact that this is a personal blog, I’m just one guy, and there is unfortunately very little chance that I will live long enough to watch (let alone take screenshots and comprehensive notes) about everything that has been requested.

Feeling extra motivated to see your suggestion covered on BAMF Style? Click here or the below button to contribute a donation… and be sure to mention if there’s a specific character, movie/TV show, and/or clothing you’d want to see covered!

If you spot a mistake—which is certainly possible—please follow these steps:

  1. Make a comment or send an email kindly correcting me, with evidence and placements if necessary or possible
  2. I’ll make the correction once I confirm it and, especially if it’s a significant change or brand confirmation, give credit for the fix (unless you don’t want credit!)

Hey BAMF – very big fan after finding your site via Joe Pesci’s outfits in THE IRISHMAN. Two suggestions – the unique pastiche debonair ensembles of Bill Skarsgard (“the Marquis”) in John Wick 4, and (if you are remotely interested in NCAA basketball, the championship game is this eve) the class act outfits of ex-Villanova coach and CBS commentator, Jay Wright: https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/nobody-had-more-style-than-jay-wright/

Excellent site and thank you for the hard work researching the clothing sources and alternatives. Could you do an article on the clothes worn by George Peppard in Breakfast at Tiffany’s’, please? Similar to the clothes worn by Robert Redford in ‘Three days of the Condor’ and ‘Spy game’. As stylish and practical today as they were then. True style never changes.

Hey Nick, I wanted to say thanks for all of the extremely interesting articles and posts. It’s always fun to read and see the stories behind the costumes and clothes.

Any chance of taking a look at Jamie Foxx’s green jacket and outfit in “Django Unchained”? – https://img.rasset.ie/0006049f-1440.jpg

I’ve done a search on the site and I don’t *think* you’ve already covered it…

Can you make Johnny Boy sopranos Brown Shirt in the Sopranos Staffel 1 Episode 3 ,,Down Neck”?

Louis Bloom in Nightcrawler goes through a subtle wardrobe upgrade once he starts making money. He also gets a nice watch in the opening scene.

  6. Brandon Bosworth

Shamier Anderson as the Tracker in “John Wick: Chapter 4” has an interesting look that is quite different than the way other characters in the series dress. Plus, he carries a customized Marlin lever-action rifle, something rarely if ever seen in movies.

Also, though he’s called the Tracker, I think of him as the Ranger, because I consider the John Wick series to essentially be a version of Dungeons & Dragons set in the present day with guns and martial arts.

I would love to see something on Tristan Farnon, portrayed by a young Peter Davidson, in the original “All creatures great and small“. For me he is the epitome of the merging of classic utility garments and more noble looks. I must admit though, that I do not have a specific episode in mind.

Hey! I love your website. It’s awesome, and you’ve covered so much in incredible detail.

Would you be able to do Sam Fisher from the video game Splinter Cell: Conviction, and Jack Reacher from the Amazon Prime TV series?

  9. Lorenzo

Can you do Dennis Hopper’s cowboy style in “The Last Movie” I always thought he looked pretty good in that doomed production. Always been my hero too

I’m really suggesting too much but I watched Bad Lieutenant with Harvey Keitel yesterday and I really liked his suits in that film. His grey blazer with a red polo shirt and black slacks is just legendary looking in my opinion.

Can I recommend Ryan Gosling, Simu Liu and Michael Cera in Barbie? The guys fashion is incredible

I’ve got some ideas for some female posts.
Faye Dunaway in Bonnie and Clyde
    Naomi Watts In The Ring
    Faye Dunaway in Chinatown
    Ellen Burstyn in The Exorcist
    Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Seinfeld
    Any of the Bond girls

With the passing of Hurricane Billy Friedkin recently I rewatched his masterpiece, To Live and Die in LA, and I think William Petersen as Richard Chance has so many good outfits in that movie. I think many of the outfits that Petersen specifically wears have aged really well and could still be fashionable and stylish walking around LA in 2023. I’ve bought several pieces featured in the movie such as the Bermans leather jacket he frequently wears and would love to see you cover the film.

Since you just did Mean Streets, I was wondering if you’ll do Bad Lieutenant? Harvey Keitel easily gives his best performance in it and he dresses pretty nicely in it.

  15. Guido

    Harrison Ford in Frantic
    Steve McQueen in Junior Bonner
Steve McQueen in Hitchcock presents’ episodes (two)

    Please: EVERYTHING from Miami Vice

    I’ve got some suggestions:
You need to stop doing posts based off anniversaries or holidays and need to start doing some of the things that are recommended on this page. The best way to keep readers is to listen to your readers. I mean no disrespect in any way and and am just putting in my 2 cents.

Also, please more Mean Streets posts

    • Nick (luckystrike721)

You’ll definitely see more Mean Streets to come. And I’d say a lot of the posts I’ve done so far are the result of requests and recommendations, going back over the 11 years I’ve been doing this page. I log and organize all the requests I receive, but even if I live 100 years I won’t have time to even watch everything that’s been requested — let alone take the time to research and write about it.

That said, it’s all a labor of love on my part so I’ll ultimately always write about what interests me when I feel like writing about them. Some people say “you write about too many suits” while others say “we need to see more suits!”… some have criticized me writing about Cagney or Bogart because their style is from so far past, while others ask to see more of those classic fashions. I can’t please everybody, and if my hobby of maintaining this page ever feels more like work than the fun blog I intended it to be, then I’ll probably just stop.

I have a suggestion. Since it’s going to be Bela Lugosi’s birthday on October 20th. I would love to see you posting an article about Bala Lugosi as Dracula. On what he really wear on the 1931 film. It would be great if you posted on October 20th on his birthday.

  18. jt839

I’ve got an obscure recommendation but the film is free on YouTube and in high quality:

There’s a horror film that released in 1997 called The Night Flier that stars Miguel Ferrer (cousin of George Clooney) and I’ve always thought the clothes that he wore in that movie were badass.

  19. David

Would love to see a post or series of posts on Raylan Given’s wardrobe in Justified City Primeval.

Also, I suggest some posts on Dwight (Sylvester Stallone) from Tulsa King.

  20. jt839

    Suggestions:

Keifer Sutherland in Stand By Me

The Losers Club in IT (90’s version or 2010’s version would be cool)

Jack Nicholson or Harvey Keitel in The Two Jakes

Robert De Niro or Christopher Walken in The Deer Hunter

    Everyone in The Usual Suspects

  21. tu9462

    Suggestions:
Harrison Ford (and perhaps Morgan Paull) in 1982 “Blade Runner”
Alain Delon in “Un flic” (1972)
Alain Delon in “Le cercle rouge” (1970)
    Donald Sutherland in “Klute” (1971)

I just finished my second viewing on Ferrari (2023) from Michael Mann. As I consider MM viewing on the big screen to be the equivalent of a pilgrimage to Mecca for film lovers; I suppose BAMF Style posts from those same films are no less special. If you haven’t seen it: DO! If you have the inclination to write and post about it: ALSO DO!

Happy New Years, Strike – Though it appears you are now going by your proper handle. So, Nick, I wish you a productive and BAMF 2024. As always, keep up the good work.

    • Nick (luckystrike721)

Thanks for the kind words and the recommendation — indeed, I’m eager to see Ferrari and I’m sure it’ll make for great material to post about. Glad we share the appreciation for Mann, one of the first movies my wife and I rewatched to begin the year was Heat.

Wishing you a very happy new year!

    Suggestions:

Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman in Se7en

Michael J. Fox in Back To The Future

Lance Henriksen and Paul Winfield in The Terminator

Robert Mitchum in The Night Of The Hunter

Maybe another Adam Sandler post, he dresses the same in every movie so take your pick.

I loved your French connection blog, however, the gray suit gene hackman wears is a mall glen plaid, not unlike the Cary grant suit from North By Northwest. If you watch a really good quality version of the film, you can spot the pattern when he stomps his feet outside the restaurant. We also do see what the jacket looks like in the scene where he talks with his boss about wire tapping Sal.

I would love to see some more James Stewart suits from Mr smith and Philadelphia story and some classic bogart suits like his tan one from the big sleep

  25. RM

Not sure if you’re a fan of it or not but, Law and Order has some strong looks from some it’s investigators; ADA Jack McCoy, trad flannel suits and Barbour jackets, Det. Mike Logan, tartan ties and a battered leather car coat, and Det. Joe Fontana, snappily dressed in sharp suits and camel coats.

  26. jt839

James Woods in Once Upon A Time In America, particularly his gray sport jacket with charcoal slacks and his introductory pinstripe suit.

    Michael Douglas in Falling Down

    Charlie Sheen in Wall Street

Robert De Niro in Cape Fear

    Bill Paxton in Twister

    Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump

Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare On Elm Street series.

  27. Rowan Jansen

Do you think you could do Dr Henry Frankenstein (1930s version) his lab coat and sport he wears to try to kill the creature.

I think that’d be awesome for Halloween time.

Btw, I am a huge fan of this blog. It was what got me into men’s fashion. Before I was just wearing t shirts and shorts, now I always wear a sport coat and tie.

  28. Rowan Jansen

I also think some other cool ideas would be:

Roy scheider in the French connection

Joseph Cotten’s glen plaid and double breasted suits as uncle Charlie

Joseph Cotten in the third man

James Stewart in the Philadelphia story, wonder if that’s the same suit as you can’t it with you, hard to tell

Controversial, but woody Allen’s style in pretty much all of his films, Annie hall particularly

Bogarts sport coat and khaki combo in conflict. Same as two Mrs carols

  29. jt839

David Duchovny in X-Files. There’s a lot of Californication posts so I thought some Mulder posts would be cool.

Gabriel Byrne’s taupe tweed suit in Miller’s Crossing. I think you mentioned that you were going to do this suit a while back but I don’t remember.

Al Pacino in Insomnia (2002). Very similar to his outfits from Heat but now with a leather blazer.

    Arnold Schwarzenegger in Total Recall.

Johnny Depp in The Ninth Gate, not a great movie but there are some pretty nice suits worn by Depp and Frank Langella in it.

  30. jt839

I was watching the Reservoir Dogs 4k earlier and I noticed that Mr White’s trousers have a subtle glen plaid. Does this mean he’s not wearing a suit since the coat isn’t plaid?

  31. jt839

    Suggestions:

    Harrison Ford in Working Girl

Michael Douglas in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps

    Bill Murray in Groundhog Day

  32. Rowan Jansen

John Wayne in stagecoach would be cool. He never looked more badass then he did twirling that gun and saddle.

  33. jt839

    Suggestions:
    William Devane in Rolling Thunder
Jim Carrey in Liar Liar, Ace Ventura, or The Mask
    Lance Henriksen in Pumpkinhead
    Jack Nicholson in Batman
    Tom Hanks in Big
Ray Liotta or Jeff Daniels in Something Wild
