Suggestions and Feedback

“I wore a pretty great tux in To Catch A Thief. Will you be doing a post on that anytime soon?”
I’m always looking for new BAMF Style content ideas, so if you’re ever watching a film or TV show and think, “Hey, that BAMF has great style…” you should know where to go. Post your ideas in the comments below or email thesartorialbamf@gmail.com! Nothing is necessarily out of bounds, as long as there’s enough to be covered.
I try to be as accommodating as I can be to requests, but this page is solely a labor of love—not a content factory!—so please be patient and mindful of the fact that this is a personal blog, I’m just one guy, and there is unfortunately very little chance that I will live long enough to watch (let alone take screenshots and comprehensive notes) about everything that has been requested.
Feeling extra motivated to see your suggestion covered on BAMF Style? Click here or the below button to contribute a donation… and be sure to mention if there’s a specific character, movie/TV show, and/or clothing you’d want to see covered!

If you spot a mistake—which is certainly possible—please follow these steps:
- Make a comment or send an email kindly correcting me, with evidence and placements if necessary or possible
- I’ll make the correction once I confirm it and, especially if it’s a significant change or brand confirmation, give credit for the fix (unless you don’t want credit!)
I think a Sonny Crockett post would be very welcome.
Definitely. I’d like to know what brand was that dress shirt he wore in “Theresa” from season three.
I’d kill for a breakdown of Crockett’s look at the end of “Definitely Miami” S:2, Ep. 12/13 (First episode in the season was two parts, so subsequent episode numbers vary).
How about Michael Fassbender in Shame…running gear, very classic looking.
I hadn’t heard of this before, so I appreciate the new addition – thanks!
Surprised that Idris Elba doesn’t appear on this site anywhere? How about doing something on Luther?
Thanks for the suggestion, Rob. The only reason it hasn’t appeared yet is that I still have to check out the show – very excited to watch Luther and I can guarantee that some Idris Elba looks will be showing up as soon as I do!
I like this website and your stuff so much! sometimes your website helps me so much. if I had a chance, I would to see ”magic city” stuff here. Magic city outfits and style very interesting for me. I bet you watched this TV show already, like me/us! I mean, I would to see here Ike evans, Stevie evans, Ben diamond, Bel jaffe outfits, style. That would be fabulous for me.
Much respect & Love from Turkey istanbul
Cheers!
Thanks, Cem! I appreciate all the kind words. Quite a few people have told me that I should be watching (and writing about) Magic City, so I plan to get started and posting very soon. Are there any particular characters or looks that you’d like me to start with?
Your welcome. it would be awesome to see Magic City on your blog. my favorite character is Stevie Evans because of his style and outfits. I would to see Ben Diamond, Bel jaffe, Ike evans too. but if you would to start with Stevie Evans, it will make me happy! I’m sure, you’ll love their style and outfits…
Happy weeks! 🙂
Love Magic City… 1959 Miami… It doesn’t get more stylish than that. I am a huge fan of the show and run @MiramarPlaya over on Twitter. I went a little crazy when they auctioned off the props. I’ve got Ike’s white tux, Ben Diamond’s clothes, watch, sunglasses, and jewelry, and many other props from the glamorous Miramar Playa. Would love to see some Magic City featured on BAMF.
It’s gonna be Magic City time very soon! Eric, since you have so many of the props and costumes, I hope you don’t mind if I reach out to get some more information directly from you to make sure any posts I put together would be as accurate and full as possible.
Another great Spy Game outfit for Redford. His dark grey light weight sports jacket over light grey polo shirt in Lebanon.
Maybe a post for one of the characters in American Crime Story: The People v OJ Simpson, could be interesting comparing the on-screen suits worn by the actors and the wardrobes of their real life counterparts.
Thanks for the suggestion, Ryan. I especially like to compare wardrobes for situations like that. I’ve heard it’s a very interesting series but I haven’t seen any of it yet; are you enjoying it?
It was very entertaining, definitely worth a watch.
Sinatra and rat pack crew in robin and the 7 hood definitely qualifies as BAMF style
Be good to see another Bond post, maybe Spectre. But I’d love to see a post on the double breasted blazer from FYEO. Even though Matt from Suits Of James Bond has covered them very well.
Norman Stansfield from Léon: The Professional (1994)
A think a must Madmen posts are Roger Sterlings classic grey three piece from the early seasons and his navy double-breasted blazer and grey slacks (he wears a smart pair of light grey check trousers that has a red over-check with his blazer in season seven, episode four. Showing how relaxed American offices were starting to become).
I’d love to see another post on one of Don Draper’s sports jackets or another business suit pot
I think some of Don Draper’s dress shirts starting earlier then season 6 are more cream than white. I guess there trying to show the changes in styles and how Don adopts them into his own conservative style of business dress.
Michael Douglas as Detective Nick Curran in Basic Instinct.
Good suggestion, Ryan. The last time I watched Basic Instinct, I cursed myself halfway through for not screencapping some of the cool stuff sported by Douglas’ character. Anything in particular you’d want to see first?
The first suit he wears on day one of the investigation is a good start. But you can go wrong with any of his looks.
‘Can’t’ go wrong.
Michael Douglas also wears a dark sports jacket also. One day to work with some lighter slacks and after he’s suspended with a check shirt and jeans.
The Brothers Bloom is definitely worth your time. It’s by Rian Johnson (Looper, Brick) and is a fantastically written film. More to the point, the movie’s style is lush and timeless, and Mark Ruffalo in particular gets to rock some great outfits.
Thanks! I’m a Rian Johnson fan, especially Brick and his work on Breaking Bad. Still have to see both Looper and Brothers Bloom, so I’ll add them to my watch list.
Might I suggest:
1.) Brad Pitt as Tyler Durden in Fight Club. You’ve already done a few posts on Brad in Ocean’s 11, but when he played Tyler, he embodied BAMF.
2.) Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard in Blade Runner. This movie blew my mind, and Ford wears some superb examples of ’80s futurism.
I’d really like to see you break these down. Keep the posts coming!
Thanks, Jeff! I’ve had a few requests for Tyler Durden, so I think the time has come to put something together there ASAP, especially since my own personal style was so influenced by his reddish leather jacket after I got a similar lucky find at a local thrift store.
Ashamed to say that I’ve never seen Blade Runner but I’ve always wanted to. I’ll pick a weekend soon to watch it, screencap it, and prepare to have my mind blown!
“SPECTRE was also the only Bond film after Live and Let Die that featured a scene in Bond’s apartment, but this is slightly less interesting trivia.”
Interesting or not, we also see Bond’s apartment (or flat, he is British) in the first James Bond film, Dr. No.
You’re right, Rob! Each time we see Bond’s flat, it seems like a good reflection of the characterization of the actor playing him. Connery’s flat was strong and traditionally masculine, Moore’s was more luxurious and trendy (especially with that espresso machine!), and Craig’s is very rugged and stripped-down.
Charles Bronson’s various outfits in 1972’s The Mechanic (especially the Steve McQueen-like polo neck)
Good thinking! Bronson is always badass.
Please, do “Shame”. Fassbender’s outfit is an orgasm.
Love the site! I’ve been copying character’s looks for years, and this site is the best thing since sliced bread.
With that being said, maybe this is a little crazy, but how about some breakdowns of Sterling Archer’s outfits from “Archer”?
Thanks for the very very kind words! And maybe it is a little crazy, but I’ve been thinking the same thing and have been screencapping Archer for that purpose over the last few months … great minds must indeed think alike.
You should totally look at some of the characters from Longmire, like Walt Longmire (minimalist, utilitarian Western), Branch Connally (young, sharp-dressed Western) and Henry Standing Bear (Western Wear with slight First Nations influences). They’re pretty good examples of how costuming can really help flesh out characters’ personalities and I think you’d do a good job describing it.
I’ve heard some great (and very badass!) things about Longmire, so I’ll bump it up on my watch list. Thanks for the primer on each character there; I’ll be sure to keep that all in mind as I’m screencapping and analyzing!
Don Draper’s atomic fleck blue sports jacket in the flashback to the early fifties when he was a used car salesman. Season 2 episode 7
Ben Affleck’s suit in Batman vs Superman at Lex Luthor’s fundraiser gala
Andy Garcia in Internal Affairs, he wears dark double breasted power suits with white button down collars. Richard Gere also wears a light grey lounge suit in the film and a more casual sports jacket and light casual trousers.
Don Draper season 2 episode 10. Don wears two sports jackets during his visit to his father in laws.
Hugh Jackman from The Wolverine. That black suit worn by the baddest MF’er ever.
Hello to whom is responsible for Bamfstyle:
I would like to sugest if you could do a review on the Yellow Zoot Suit from the 1995 film the Mask, with Jim Carey and the Suit almost at the end of the film, the black with white strip line? Thank you.
The yellow Zoot Suit from the movie The Mask and the black white striped line suit from the end of the movie.
Watching Jamie Foxx in “Ray” and I love some of the suits the cats is wearin’. But there are some great jackets Jamie Foxx wears—I don’t know the name of the style—it kind of looks like white lines and dots on a dark background, and the words “confetti tweed” come to mind. I’ve been trying to find out what that fabric style is called for months now; it had a resurgence in the 80s as well, except in colors but in general I think it would be nice to have a review of some of the clothes, because they’re great! And only you, LuckyStrike, know how to do a proper writeup on these things.
Oh, while I’ve got you, some of Jack Nicholson’s threads in Five Easy Pieces might be good, too.
Thanks – good thinking! Ray‘s been on my list to watch for the blog, so I’ll bump it up on the queue now that I know you’re looking forward to seeing some of it. I appreciate the kind words too. I’ll do some research and try to find out the jacket style for my first Ray post.
I haven’t seen Five Easy Pieces in a long time, so it’ll be fun to revisit! Maybe the ‘Go Big or Go Home’ section can have some tips on how to order toast in a diner.
In my recent peregrinations I’ve found out that the style of clothing I was referring to is—get this—keywords “atomic fleck flecked speckles rockabilly 50s hollywood coat suit.”
Go figure!! But there is a treasure trove of cool clothes to be found there! I just had no idea that whole fashion had a name.
And Five Easy Pieces was one hell of a weird movie, wasn’t it? What *was* everyone smoking back then?
That definitely helps me find what to look out for in Ray now! I’ve covered some fleck looks before:
* Goodfellas – Henry’s Herringbone Fleck Sportcoat
* L.A. Confidential – Jack Vincennes’ on-the-job “Atomic fleck”
* Rebel Without a Cause – Jim’s Fleck Jacket and 1949 Mercury
You’re definitely right about that being a big look from that era, especially in the mid-’50s. I look forward to picking out some pieces from Ray to cover here.
I had seen Ray before but I hadn’t really paid attention to the fashions. This time around I was really knocked out by some of the stuff. Now I’m looking forward to this Miles movie, because I know Miles was a huge dandy—the Prince of his day.
And that fleck stuff . . . now that it has a searchable name, watch out wallet!
I love western style suits. It would be awesome if you could cover some examples such as Brad Pitt in “The Counselor” or Steven Lang in “Public Enemies.”
Thanks for doing what you do. The site is my favorite light reading.
Frank Farmer, The Bodyguard.
(Apologies if this reply is duplicated; WordPress process is unnecessarily ponderous.)
Finally viewing _Guns of Navarone_ on a decent monitor this past weekend, I was riveted by the outfit Gregory Peck wears in the first reel: Some kind of aristocratically frayed off-white tropical suit; fabric difficult to make out. Care to give it a go?
In the meantime, allow me to add that you’re doing a splendid job.
Thanks, George! Adding it to my to-do list right now. Great suggestion!
Love this site, thanks for your work. Would love to read your verdict on Rufus Sewell’s civilian garb in The Man in the High Castle. He looks lethal in his SS uniform, as intended – no need for comment there, since I don’t intend to dress as a SS Obergruppenführer – however, he is exceedingly dapper and avuncular in cardigans etc. There’s also an episode where he goes hunting and has some pretty great looking country gear. The costuming in general is very good on this show.
Thanks – great suggestion! I’ve heard this is a show I should be watching, too. From what I’ve seen, I agree that it does look very sharply costumed!
I’m still waiting for Stevie Evans… hope I will see soon
Hope you saw this recent Stevie post: https://bamfstyle.com/2016/08/19/magiccity-stevie-redstripe/. Many more to come!
I like the look of Mark Ruffalows’ Dave Toschi in Zodiac . That movie probably is responsible for bringing back the bow tie . Ruffalow looked good with it any way . Especially when accessorized with a 9mm with a quick draw shoulder holster .
Thanks, Jack! I think that is a great suggestion, and I will definitely look into getting a post or two up about that.
Hi from Mark in Australia. Love your site. And I second the requests for more on the great MAGIC CITY. Also, just wondering if you plan to cover a 1991 TV movie DILLINGER, starring Mark Harmon. If memory serves, it focused on Dillinger’s love life rather than his crimes. Harmon was good, but he was playing a kinder, gentler bank robber who was appalled by the excesses of some of his colleagues. Hard to believe. Also they had guards in cages being lowered into the banks during the hold-ups. After ineffectually spraying a few rounds about, the poor devils were cut to shreds. It may not qualify for BAMFstyle because they didn’t make any effort to duplicate the suits Dillinger actually wore – just what a successful man of the ’30’s would wear.
Hi, Mark! Great suggestion – I’ve been trying hard to locate a copy of that for almost a decade now! I can only find it on VHS which, sadly, I’m unable to screencap. If you come across a site that has any Region 1 DVD offerings for sale, please let me know! A big ’30s/Dillinger fan like me would love to include that in my collection. I’m glad you’d be interested to read about that, too.
Outstanding website! Years, years ago… like in 1953 and years after, a young editor/psychology graduate named Hugh M. Hefner thought that the American male lacked sophistication, class, and world-education compared to his European counterpart (especially after he had served in Europe). Aside from the “pictorial” part of his flagship publication, Mr. Hefner went on a crusade to “educate” the American male in everything from wine, dress/clothing (quarterly male dress issue), cars, etc…
For having spent 13 years overseas, courtesy of the military, I would tend to agree with Mr. Hefner that we (males) could benefit from a “broader” education especially when it comes down to attire…
BTW, in the JB “The spy who loved me”, Roger Moore (playing JB) is seen with Robert J. Brown (playing “M”). Both of them played together as young aspiring actor in the British TV series “Ivanhoe” circa 1958 with Moore playing the title role and Brown playing his armorer “Gurth”. I know, I am that old…
Greatly educational and entertaining posts that can benefit the younger (and older) of us, men. Thank you, Ciao, L
Watched The Counselor yesterday, not great, everyone speaks faux-philosophy as a first language. What was great however was the titular character’s style, Armani suits, probably Burberry raincoat, Cutler and Gross sunglasses whilst speeding around in a Bentley. Even his casual clothes are cool.
Would also recommend Tom Quinn from Spooks. Practical, professional, stylish.
hey there! Nice post again! I very much like Niven’s outfit in DOTN. Are you sure he wears bluchers? They look like balmorals to me…
I’ll have to give it another closer look. You may be right!
Ralph fiennes in the English patient as count Almasy has a really good style ! You should do it ! And it’s an excellent movie
Wonderful bog! I just discovered it while watching “Bullitt” on TCM and explored further as you have discussed some of my favorites, especially Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday. I also enjoyed your Boondock Saints post. Since you have done some TV shows, I was hoping to see something on Jim Caviezel and Michael Emersonin Person of Interest. As John Reese, Caviezel’s character is known as the mysterious “Man in the Suit” as he casually knee-caps anyone out to harm innocent citizens of New York. As a former Army Ranger and CIA operative, Reese couldn’t be more BAMF, and in fact it was his character being designated as such that I first became familiar with the term. His employer, reclusive billionaire Harold Finch, not only hires Reese who was previously homeless, but provides his wardrobe and expensive New York loft. While not your typical BAMF, Finch is a computer genius and can ruin any evil doer with a few keystrokes. His wardrobe consists of three piece bespoke suits even when he is toiling alone in their off-the-grid library hideout. I would love to see your take on their sartorial splendor. The show just ended its five year run on CBS (where many never even realized how outstanding it was) but is now on Netflix.
Thanks for the very thoughtful suggestion, April! I’ll have to check it out on Netflix, and I’d love to get some posts together. Much appreciated!
Big fan of the blog! Any possibility you’d do Picasso from Alex Cross?
Sure! Adding it to my watch list. Thanks for the suggestion!
Brad Pitt in Mr & Mrs Smith and Kevin Costner in JFK must get a look in !
I was wondering if you could update the John Wick post to include the commandeered rifle he used during the assault on Iosef’s safe house.
How about something on Tom Ellis in Lucifer, he wears some very smart suits in every episode.
Will you be doing posts on Spectre in the future?
Paul Newman in “Sweet Bird of Youth”
Harrison Ford in “The Fugitive” and “Blade Runner”
Thank You (best blog ever)!!!
Thank you for the nice compliment and your suggestions!! Definitely making sure those are on the list now. Cheers!
Kevin Costumer in JFK and Brad Pitt in Mr and Mrs Smith
Can’t get enough of Robert Deniro in Wag The Dog . Strange blend of hat , sport coat , notably the red bow tie and what ? blue jeans ? Works for me . Would love to see a breakdown of this wardrobe .
Cool idea! That is a terrific movie, and I will check it out again for a post.
Would love to see a breakdown of Cary Grant’s Bermuda outfit from “Touch of Mink”. The tan jacket, Gray slacks, CG Gray tie, tan socks one. Always loved that look. Could be CG is the only one who could pull it off, but would love to learn the details. Outstanding site, as always. Thanks.
Hey ! First of all, thanks for that blog, your work is great and very interesting.
May i suggest the clothing of Warren Oates in Bring me the head of Alfredo Garcia, or the urban clothing of James Coburn in Duck, you Sucker ?
Thank you !
Thanks for the compliment and suggestions! I haven’t seen Duck, You Sucker! but I’ll definitely need to check it out now. I’m happy to say that Alfredo Garcia has been screencapped for the blog and there will certainly be a post upcoming about Warren Oates’ dirty off-white linen suit and loud shirts… possibly a car week post that also breaks down the info about his red Impala convertible. Glad to know you’re interested!
