It seems like every month I’m checking in on my man Walton Goggins, but I can’t help myself after seeing how Alex Bovaird’s Emmy-nominated costume design dressed Rick Hatchett exactly in my summer aesthetic on The White Lotus. Whether he’s in wild tropical-printed shirts and cargo pants or a chic matching set from Dandy Del Mar, Rick’s vacation wardrobe hits all the right notes.

I first discovered the Cali-based brand Dandy Del Mar back in 2020 through their retro-informed swimwear and terry-forward loungewear, and as the brand’s collection of leisurewear has grown, so has my personal stash. (This isn’t a sponsored post, I swear—I’m just a big fan!) Naturally, I was thrilled when I saw Rick sporting one of their matching sets during his emotional reunion with Chelsea on the beach in Koh Samui during the latest season finale.

As this summer draws closer to an end, let’s look back at how Rick Hatchett dressed toward the end of his fateful stay at the White Lotus this year.

What’d He Wear?

Rick’s typical day-to-day in Thailand consists of aloha shirts and army-style cargo pants, worn with the world-weary insouciance of Hawkeye Pierce rather than the oblivious bravado of a tropical-shirted tourist. After a sharp departure into off-white tailoring for his vengeance detour in Bangkok, Rick returns to the White Lotus resort for a surprisingly tender moment—clad this time in the breezy Dandy Del Mar Brisa Linen set.

The shirt-and-trousers ensemble is made from a breathable 55% linen/45% cotton blend, described by the brand as “as light as the breeze and as soft as a secret.” Available in colors like the light-teal “Abalone” (as seen here), “Dawn” (rose pink), “Moontide” (navy), “Sedona” (brown), and “Vintage Ivory”, the set is likely named after the brisa, a wind from the northeast that drifts over Puerto Rico and parts of South America during the trade wind season.

The short-sleeved shirt takes inspiration from the classic guayabera, complete with dual vertical alforza pleats down the chest—each flanking a column of Dandy Del Mar’s signature gardenia tonally embroidered between the shoulder seams and hem. A patch pocket over the left side of the chest breaks this design just enough for contrast, subtly adorned with the brand’s logo in matching thread.

Five brown-toned coconut shell buttons fasten up from the square-cut hem to the base of the open camp collar, which Rick leaves with the top button undone to look as carefree as he feels after seemingly leaving his trauma back in Bangkok.

The matching trousers feature an elasticized waistband with a white drawcord tipped in metal, straight side pockets, and two coconut-buttoned set-in pockets over the seat—again featuring tonal Dandy Del Mar embroidered logo over the back right. The relaxed silhouette balances comfort and shape, with a straight-leg cut designed with a short 27.75-inch “highwater inseam” to keep the plain-hemmed bottoms out of the sand and surf.

While the outfit departs from Rick’s usual aesthetic, he sticks to one signature: his black leather sandals. These simple flats feature two straps across the foot—one wide across the instep and a narrower one near the toes—with an additional leather loop securing the big toe in place.

After several episodes wearing the comparatively inexpensive Q Timex® GMT Quartz with its black-and-green bezel, Rick returns to the Rolex Datejust he had worn for his and Chelsea’s arrival to the resort days earlier. With a stainless steel—or possibly white-gold—case, the Datejust has a fluted bezel encircling its round white dial, boasting a 3:00 date window and strapped to a brown edge-stitched leather bracelet. On the opposite hand, he continues wearing that large darkened silver ring with an overlapping band, swelling out to a prong-like setting for a large black square stone.

While the rest of the group cycles through sunglasses like fresh socks, Rick sticks to his dark polished tortoiseshell Ray-Ban RB2140 Original Wayfarer shades. Around his neck, he wears a gold box-chain with a lobster-claw clasp, from which hang two pendants: one a smooth black bead, the other a larger gold-toned plate inlaid with what appears to be tiger’s eye or a similar banded stone.

How to Get the Look

Though keeping his regular rotation of jewelry and accessories, Rick swaps out his usual wardrobe for the serenity of a breezy linen-blend beach set—a stylish and significant departure that underscores his newly discovered vulnerability.
