For this 00-7th of June, BAMF Style is honoring a request from Troy Swezey to analyze how the world’s least secret secret agent dresses casually for a warm afternoon under the Cuban sun.
After his release from North Korean captivity and subsequent escape from British medical captivity, James Bond follows a lead to Havana to get some answers. While there, he meets fellow badass Giacinta “Jinx” Johnson (Halle Berry), an American NSA agent who is able to meets him toe-to-toe when it comes to trading liquor shots, gunshots, or innuendo-laced wit. I’m off to the beach for my annual vacation! I’ll have my phone, but I eschew technology when surrounded by sun, sand, water, and books, so I’ll be less responsive to comments and e-mails than usual (and I know I already need some improvement in that area!)
There’ll be a few posts planned for the course of this week, but here’s a quick snippet of a BAMF in relaxation mode that we should all try and emulate.

How to Get the Look
The Wolf of Wall Street gives us a quick look at Jordan and Naomi relaxing on his yacht. He doesn’t have a care in the world as he lays next to his beautiful wife and wears:
- Navy blue short-sleeve linen shirt with six white buttons down plain front and straight-hemmed bottom
- Light blue “Hawaiian printed” polyester swimming trunks with a palm tree and orange floral print
The on-screen shorts have been positively identified as a pair of Breakwater polyester board shorts in the “Hawaiian Vibe” tropical pattern with a white drawstring waist. You can still find the same pair on eBay. (Thanks to reader Thawm for the ID!)
Belfort himself mentions a pair of “blue nylon” swimming trunks in his follow-up book, Catching the Wolf of Wall Street.
His Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses with black acetate frames, a fine choice for a successful young fella on holiday, sit on the back on his head against the pillow.
If you’ve got a special lady friend with you who also would like some shades, Margot Robbie is wearing a pair of brown plastic-framed Versace 477/B 915 sunglasses with gold Greek key temple logos.

With winter upon us, avoid the winter blues by thinking ahead to summer. Picture yourself on a millionaire’s yacht, drinking wine and eating caviar with millions to spend and not a care in the world.
Of course, that’s hardly a reality for even the top 1% of us, but it doesn’t hurt to dress the part. Even Jordan Belfort recognizes this in The Wolf of Wall Street when he tells visiting FBI agent Patrick Denham that:
When you’re sailing a boat built for a Bond villain you’ve got to play the part.

Today in 1920, Prohibition went into effect, kicking off a decade-long party known to many as the “roaring twenties” and most famously coined “the Jazz Age” by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald would have certainly been the expert, having written the novel that defined the decade and, by extension, the entire country. That novel, The Great Gatsby, didn’t have much success at the time, and Fitzgerald himself considered his masterpiece to be a flop at the time of his death in 1940. Continue reading

By the end of Mad Men‘s second season, Don Draper’s year of professional success has not been without its personal struggles. He’s still wowing clients right and left, but his home life is in turmoil after one too many extramarital dalliances—or at least a far too blatant one—landed him out of the house indefinitely. Furthermore, it’s September 1962, mere weeks away from the proverbial “eyeball to eyeball” tension of the Cuban Missile Crisis would threaten the world as they know it.

Background
Although known to many fans as the film where Bond spends half of his time underwater, which Connery himself commented on in a 1965 Playboy article, Bond does indeed spend some time in the Bahamas on dry land. Notably, he is invited to villain-and-hero bonding time at Largo’s estate, Palmyra. For this, he dresses casually without reverting to the mixed-reception sport shirt and sports he wears for his more aquatic adventures.
